Appropriate Gamification and Learning Spaces
Appropriate gamification means taking elements of gamified systems (not games) and employing them to fit into educational settings, e.g. class cliffhangers (a list will be given). By mentally reframing and physically redesigning, classroom learning spaces become more effective and online learning spaces can be newly created thus empowering both students and teachers. The presenters will use examples from their classes. Sunday, November 25th 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM (60 minutes) Room 903 |

This presentation explores a Deep Learning (DL) approach to discussions and presentations. DL focuses on experiential learning and intuitive knowledge. We will explore critical questions: What makes topics deeply engaging? How can we encourage self expression? How should we structure discussion activities? Can student nervousness be used constructively? There will be a brief introduction to DL theory together with best practices and opportunities for participant discussion.
