A seminar for English teachers teaching
Junior High School and High School students

CAN-DO Statements &
4 Skills Assessment

With the newly published curriculum guidelines in Japan, English teachers are asked to transition from the traditional English Language Teaching, which focuses on teaching 'knowledge', to more functional teaching based on CAN-DO statements adopting the principles of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). On the other hand, assessments to measure the 4 skills are becoming increasingly popular as external English exams are set to gain ground in addition to the existing National Center Test for University Admissions as part of the upcoming university entrance exam reforms. At this event, our guest speakers, academic experts and veteran educators, will invite you to discuss how we can introduce practical English teaching aiming at "What you can do in English" as well as how we assess the 4 skills. We look forward to seeing you there!

Target group: English teachers teaching at high schools, junior high schools, private language schools
