Summary

This webinar will provide an overview of the Global Scale of English, a comprehensive research-based framework of granular Can Do statements, and explore the connection between classroom assessment, program performance and long term learner success to have better visibility on learners’ language progress.

Description

The Global Scale of English (GSE) is a comprehensive research-based framework of granular Can Do statements that explores English across domains. Using the GSE for learners provides educators opportunities to use research-informed learning objectives to better understand the learning process, language development and avenues of language support. Using the GSE in the classrooms allows for day to day planning to achieve progress that is directly aligned to key learning needs. In this session we will review the direct classroom application of the GSE in lesson development, and explore the connection between classroom assessment, program performance, and long term learner success.

All attendees will receive access to GSE tools and resources as well as free lessons plans for direct classroom practice.

Summary

This webinar will provide insights around how to develop lessons that can support learners who need help, while challenging learners who are ready to go further by using the Global Scale of English.

Description

One significant challenge in language learning is finding the right balance between supporting students enough, and supporting students so much that progress cannot be achieved. In this session we will examine how to use the GSE to develop lessons that will engage and delight all learners while providing many opportunities for support and growth.
